Do you think this plot is too much of a sensitive issue right now to be made into a novel?

I'd read your book! Sometimes a controversial topic is the best subject for a story. Myself, I wouldn't have her turn out gay because that seems a bit cliched to me, but that's just my opinion. I don't think churches would be too harsh because you're showing both sides, not necessarily persecuting just one side.
