I have no credit, can I qualify for fha loan?

I moved here from the philippines 8 months ago, started working about 6 months ago. Could I qualify for a home mtg or FHA loan? If i got a secured credit card and start building my credit that way, would that be enough? if not, how long do you think the banks require for me to get accepted? I am 44 yrs old if htat matters.
