It is entirely possible you have an infected tooth root where infection is being created and collecting just under the skin. You are correct that you should be consulting a dentist. Remember, there are a great many different types of antibiotics. Each one is designed to do a specific job and to eliminate a particular type of problem. Some antibiotics will do very little with respect to the infection being created by an infected tooth. Good luck.
