How can I get rid/remove this scar ?

About a month ago I was running and scd my abs across the side of a staircase. It hurt but didn't bleed and I just left it alone. The week after that it scabbed up and was healing itself (I guess). Eventually the scabby hard part came off but I'm left with this scar that looks like a birthmark on my abs. Is there any way at all (without surgery) that I can remove the scar or atleast make it less than noticeable? Right now it looks terrible.
