What actions would you take to survive worldwide catastrophes?

If numerous worldwide catastrophes were caused by something like an asteroid or large ping planet, what would you do to survive? Where would you go? What could be done to prepare for or prevent such a disaster? Please, don't say that you would die or that there is no hope.
