Do unconscious people have beliefs?

People have pive umptions about things about which they've never thought, which are not mental events. For instance, they ume they are not about to be hit by a meteorite, that there is no gorilla in the front room, that the next chair they sit in will support their weight and so on. These are beliefs which are not "in the mind" as such. When a person is in a dreamless sleep, a coma or some other unconscious state, are all of their beliefs in fact pive umptions? If so, can there be such a thing as a sleeping Christian, a sleeping communist, a sleeping Trekkie or a sleeping transual?
